Hasshaku-sama, Kunekune etc Aren’t Scary When You Read Them Again

1. I always forget how scary they are after a single night and when I read them again, they’re no longer scary. Do you guys know of any stories that will keep me scared for a whole week?

14. Ah, what was that story. The one with the hair in the dresser in the abandoned building. I remember that being pretty interesting the first time I read it.

17. You can find Higurashi everywhere, but I think the manga is the scariest.

18. Once you’ve read all the famous ones, scary stories aren’t scary anymore. You start to think more about how the author could have developed the plot better.

41. I think it was called Rinfone, the one where you make an animal and then die in the end. I thought that was well written, and the final part where they find it as a bargain buy was pretty good.

43. Something happens -> You go to a temple or shrine and as soon as the priest sees you they scream “what have you done?!” If you write it like this, now it’s a scary story.

48. The only story that ever really scared me was the one where three round black faces appear in a dream. But I don’t remember the thread title anymore so I can’t even look it up again.

48. I love that one with the camping car.

49. Rear S Ward really had an impact on me, and >>48 Hitchhike.

55. I read Monkey Dream before I went to bed and I couldn’t sleep. Also Real.

57. Well in the Basement was really good.

58. That one where they went to the convenience store and then was followed by a white figure. That was pretty scary.

59. That short one where it’s like “I’m sorry, but you’re daughter is already in Hell.”

62. I quite like Jashi. It gets a little carried away like a light novel though.

64. That one where there’s a machine in the basement that makes everyone disappear to the future (present). I like that one.

63. My favourite long story is Kisaragi Station. I love how it’s both creepy and exciting at the same time.

65. Also Hisaruki. And the Nest series.

70. The Hisaruki series maybe. I think other people added stories that were similar, and they even went ahead and made their own creation story without permission too.

72. The scariest thing of all lies in each of our imaginations, but when you carelessly try to paint that picture, then you ruin it.

76. I don’t remember where I read this story, but late one night, someone broke into an abandoned house and found a staircase leading to the basement. That staircase was really long and then when they reached the bottom there was a small room. I was terrified when they said they saw something through the window there that they shouldn’t have seen.
