I ran into a colleague from my previous place of work. We were now both married, but we used to go drinking together a lot. We hadn’t seen each other for a while, so we stopped by a nearby tea house to catch up.

“You haven’t been up to anything naughty recently, have you?” I asked, and he smiled and started talking.

About a year earlier, he started cheating with a woman 10 years his junior, and he spent the Christmas period (December 22, 23, 24, 25) at her place.

Naturally, his family back home was in an uproar that he just disappeared like that.

He had a daughter in elementary school, however, and feeling bad for her, he finally decided to return home around 7 p.m. on Christmas Day. His mistress cried and begged him not to go. They ended up getting into a fight and then he shook her off and took the elevator from the 11th floor down.

Then he smiled as he finished his story.

“Once I left the building and stepped outside, she was already there.”

Answer: He “shook her off” on the 11th floor, then took the elevator down, but somehow she beat him to the ground…
