An old man was trudging along slightly ahead of me.
We seemed to be going the same way, and he had been in front of me for a short while. It looked like I was purposefully following him, so no doubt he didn’t like it either. I decided to pick up the pace and walk past him.
But I was unable to catch up.
He seemed to be trudging along slowly, but no matter how fast I walked, I couldn’t close the distance between us.
It was so strange that I stopped in my tracks.
Then I realised that I didn’t recognise where I was. I had somehow wandered into an area where I didn’t recognise the land nor the houses.
As I looked around in astonishment, the old man disappeared.
I asked a passer-by for directions, and somehow I was able to make it back home.
But while I only followed that man for maybe 20 or 30 seconds, it took me nearly two hours to get back home.
