The Reason They Stopped Making Ghost Specials
1. Why?
2. Because there are no more ghosts?
3. The world discovered how easy they are to fake.
4. Radio waves and spirits were too compatible. This was fine during the Showa era, but in today’s interconnected world, it’s dangerous.
5. Apparently just talking about ghosts was enough to get complaints.
6. One of my friends with a sixth sense used to say that when she saw strange ghost pictures on TV she’d get a headache. Is that sort of thing real?
7. It’s kinda cool that spirit mediums and other mysterious jobs like that could appear on TV like it was a perfectly normal thing.
8. Kids and those in their 20s these days don’t believe in ghosts or hauntings or that sort of thing.
9. If they suddenly stopped making them because of the spread of the internet, then it’s like all the ghost specials that existed up until now were fake. I think they should keep making them because ghosts are actually real.
10. Even if it’s fiction, as long as it’s scary then I don’t mind.
11. The poor picture quality worked well with ghost specials.
13. I sometimes watch them, but I don’t recommend you do. If you see something, it’s really annoying when it starts haunting you.
14. Well, YouTubers fill that niche now, so there’s no need for it on TV.
17. They sometimes air during the summer, but it’s all stuff I’ve seen before so it’s pretty boring. But if you show something knew, people will think it’s fake, so they probably don’t want to bother.
18. Once digital cameras spread and became easier to access, people discovered all their tricks.
23. Because resolutions have gotten better.
24. If people say they can see ghosts, that’s just brain damage, right?
25. There are no fat ghosts.
26. >>25 Because once you become a ghost, you can’t eat.
42. >>25 Tokumorizaurus (a YouTuber) spoke about fat ghosts once.
27. People realised they were fake long ago. And there were too many complaints, no doubt.
28. Because Gibo Aiko-san died.
29. You never hear about the ghosts of bald, greasy old men, or ugly fat ladies either.
30. It’s interesting that magic never goes away though. It’s obviously a trick, and the audience knows it’s a trick as well.
32. There are some phenomena that still can’t be explained by science, so that’s probably why they stopped.
34. >>32 I’d actually be more interested in shows that try to prove that sort of stuff.
33. Miwa Akihiro is the reincarnation of Amakusa Shiro and can see ghosts.
35. Inagaki Goro and Tamori’s ghost drama is sooooo boring.
38. Because the owners of the photos confessed they were fake.
41. They still air them sometimes.
45 (OP). “Scary stories that really happened (fake) (fiction)” <- It’d be pretty bad if they got found out. Like, with the Broadcasting Ethics Organisation and such.
46. Kids today know that ghosts and the other side are just childish tricks created by religion to get money from them.
47. There was an adult video that captured a ghost once, right?
48. >>47 That looked so real it was actually scary.
51. When they suddenly air a ghost special, they get so many complaints. Like, why am I seeing something so scary on TV right now?
55 (OP). Ah, but I have a family photo taken by a river when I was in elementary school where there’s a hand on my shoulder. It was over 20 years ago, so I don’t think it was edited in any way, so photos like that do actually exist. But thanks to photoshop and such they’re all treated as fake now.
58. >>55 But even it’s not edited, I don’t think people should jump straight to “it’s a ghost photo” while overlooking that it could be an optical illusion or something. Some people even create a story for it.
59 (OP). >>58 Creating a story does make it seem fake.
56. There’s a ‘tuber who focuses on ghostly stuff by the name of Blue Sea who’s the real deal. I wish they’d appear on TV sometime!
57. Because UFO, UMA, and everything else was exposed as being CG.
60. I wish they’d bring back the Tankentai series…
16. Because we now live in an era where if you see a ghost video, you’re thinking about how it was actually made…
