As I was about to leave the library, it suddenly started raining.
It was a light rain, but unfortunately, I didn’t have any umbrella with me. It didn’t exactly feel good to get the books I’d just borrowed wet either.
Should I go back inside and read some magazines while I waited for the rain to stop?
As I thought it over, I heard footsteps walking across the floor.
I was standing in front of the exit, so I panicked and stepped aside. But then, I tilted my head in confusion.
I had definitely heard footsteps, and yet, nobody was there.
As I was about to give a bitter laugh, thinking I must have clearly misheard it, the footsteps started again right next to me. Then, they passed by me and made their way towards the exit.
Sensing something I couldn’t see, the automatic doors then opened.
And just like that, the footsteps disappeared into the rain.
