I caught a cold.

For the first time in a while, I had a fever, and while I was sleeping I continued to wake myself up with my own moans and delirium. As I kept falling asleep and waking up, I heard a faint voice coming from somewhere. I couldn’t quite make out what it was saying, but it was definitely a voice.

My mind fuzzy, I got up to find the source. It appeared to be coming from the book I was reading that sat beside my pillow.

The voice was obscure and distant, so I pressed my ear to the cool cover to hear it better.

“Hoorah! Hoorah!”

It was screaming words of encouragement over and over. I had no idea who it was or where it was coming from, but it was an extremely nostalgic sound.

For some reason I was beyond relieved and passed out immediately. It was a deep, dreamless sleep. When I woke up the next morning, the fever was completely gone.

Come to think of it, that book used to be my father’s.
