Top 5 Most Popular Japanese Creepypastas
Ever wondered what the most popular Japanese creepypastas are? Everyone has their favourites, and chances are that if you’re interested in Japanese horror, you’ve at least heard of the more popular ones like Hasshaku-sama or Kisaragi Station. The best stories are always subjective, but here are the top five most popular creepypastas featured on this website by view count!
5. Kankandara
The creepy shrine maiden herself, Kankandara! There’s not a single thing I don’t love about this story, and it seems a lot of other people feel the same way. I’d love to see a movie made about her story, but until then, you can read it right here!
4. Kotoribako
One of my all-time favourite stories, and like the next story on the list, one I was very excited to find because it takes place near where I lived in Japan. This one is truly disturbing and a bit of a trend-setter in the creepypasta genre. Well worth your time.
3. Higyou-sama
This one honestly surprises me. I was super excited when I found this story because it takes place close to where I lived for 10 years in Shimane Prefecture. It seems every few months the website gets an influx of readers to this story. I guess creepy chickens are a thing?
The legend herself. I don’t think a lot needs to be said about this lady, but if you haven’t read her story yet, you’re really missing out.
I don’t think this would be a huge shock to anyone. Kisaragi Station was the first Japanese internet creepypasta I ever read way back in the day, and it’s a true classic. It’s also the most read on this website as well!
