While I was cleaning the house I discovered a hole in the back of the closet. It was about the size of the nail on my thumb, and you would no doubt be correct in calling it a peep hole. However, the layout of the house popped up in my mind. On the other side of the closet was the entrance way. The area where we put out shoes near the front door.
As if supporting that theory, the hole was dark. No light shone through from the other side. If I looked through it, I should only see the inside of a dim shoe box.
Mischievously, I got down to take a look. The other side was oddly bright, and even more strangely, I wasn’t looking at the shoe box by the front door.
It was somebody’s back, like I was looking through a long tube. Who was it, and what were they doing? I continued to look, and then finally it hit me.
I was looking at myself, peeking wholeheartedly through the hole.
