9. Which is scarier, the ocean at night or the mountains at night?

11. You can’t beat the mountains at night.

13. I was fishing with my car lights aimed at the water once and I was mistaken for a smuggler, lol.

14 (OP). The mountains at night aren’t scary. Don’t look down on the ocean.

15. I took photos of both the ocean and the mountains at night on the weekend and the mountains were way scarier. I thought I was gonna wet myself when I heard the owls (?).

17 (OP). >>15 So you can climb the mountains at night but you can’t go into the water at night?

18. It is pretty scary, lol. I used to go late night fishing alone back in the day, but there’s no way I could do that now. Although I was scared when another fisherman suddenly spoke behind me once, haha.

19. The ocean at night seems like it might drag you in, so you definitely mustn’t go alone. The ocean has swallowed many corpses over the years and continues to do so even now. And you know the rest.

20. The ocean’s great. With the moonlight on it, it’s the best. It’s quiet and it’s deep. But mountains are the most terrifying.

25 (OP). >>20 All you’re gonna get on the mountains at night is like, bears or wild boars. The ocean has monsters!!

54. >>25 Well, I grew up on a small island, so I’m used to be surrounded by water. It relaxes me. But there’s obviously something in the mountains. And I’m not just talking wild animals. Bears, boars, and wild dogs are all scary, sure, but they’re not something that will make you lose your mind. The mountains at night are the only place where you feel like you’ve slipped into a different world. And you won’t find things that are warm to people there.

21. There are definitely monsters in the mountains. The ocean just ends up being strong and that’s it, so it’s no problem.

22. What is the ocean? In a way, it’s a human soup. That’s what it is.

23. I take photos of factories by myself, and the mountains are definitely scarier. Not because of ghosts or anything like that, but because you might get attacked by animals. Every time the leaves rustle in the wind I get scared.

26. Which is scarier, being by yourself in the dark sea, or being by yourself on a dark snowy mountain?

29. >>26 The ocean seems more hopeless. And it’s unfair to put snow in the conditions.

37. >>29 Well if it’s a regular dark mountain, then that’s not too bad, right? Just wait for morning.

27. In conclusion, both are scary.

28. The ocean at night.

The mountains at night.

33 (OP). >>28 The ocean is so much scarier, holy crap, lol.

34. >>28 Oh my. The ocean is terrifying. There are spirits floating everywhere. The ocean is a human soup.

38. >>34 Lmao, wait. What do you mean, spirits? Are you talking about the dust and reflection of the round lights?

46. >>38 Those are spirits. Change the lighting and look again. They’re hidden, but there are even more coming out of the water. You should be careful. They’re calling you.

48. >>46 Stoppppp, loooool. You’re scaring me, looooool.

51. >48 It’s just sea salt on the lens.

53. >>51 Change the brightness. And you can’t explain why there are none on the sand, right?

49. >>46 They’re just the lights from the town across the shore, right?

50. >>49 That’s different. There are so many spirits floating there.

64. >>50 You’re not talking about the round white things, right? There are lots of fools who call them spirits orbs, but these are totally different.

67. >>64 Where did I say anything about orbs?

30. I heard the water’s edge is dangerous at night.

31. I don’t believe in ghosts at all, but when someone asked if I could spend the night alone at a cemetery or on Mount Osore, well there’s no way!

32. I mean, the ocean itself is scary. When I swim at the beach and let my entire body float, with everything but my eyes and nose and mouth underwater, I can feel my heart pounding. If I did that at night, I’d probably be so nervous that I’d just sink.

42. >>32 That’s just water pressure, no?

43. >>42 Honestly, maybe, but maybe it’s different. Normally you wouldn’t just sink.

36. When you dive into the ocean at night, you lose all sense of heaven and earth, right?

40. The ocean at night.

The mountains at night.

52. >>40 That’s not night.

104. >>40 For some reason that second image feels very nostalgic.

41. Even if you do your best to stay safe, the mountains at night are fundamentally terrifying for humanity. Try spending three days in the mountains with nothing but food and water. Your brain will wake up and your way of thinking will change.

44. >>41 Huh, so secluding yourself in the mountains has that affect on people?

56. >>4 Spend three days, although preferably a week, experiencing the terror of the mountains at night with all five senses. You’ll learn to see things how they truly are and without filters. Scientists who do a lot of field work should spend time in the mountains at least once every three years to open up their minds.

45. You really can’t see anything in the mountains at night, so I don’t recommend it.

47. In the mountains, you have your feet planted on the ground one way or another. But in the ocean, you’re just one inch away from a watery grave. It’s fundamentally not an environment where people can survive.

58. But the stars out in the ocean at night are so beautiful. You can see the Milky Way and stars with your naked eye like it’s a photograph, and you can easily find shooting stars as well.

61. >>58 Isn’t looking at the stars over the ocean scary? Especially the giant moon, it’s just terrifying.

65. The mountains at night are a concrete fear, like maybe there’s a killer or a ghost. The ocean at night is more of an instinctive fear because it’s so massive and unknown.

66. When I was a kid, I used to hear a sound like drumming coming from the mountains. I thought maybe the neighbours were chanting or something as well, but looking back on it now, I don’t think they were. I asked my mother about it but apparently she didn’t hear anything.

The ocean at night is beautiful with green lights shining off the waves. But only in summer.

68. Come to think of it, I’ve visited mountains and rainforests in South East Asia at ngiht, but I wasn’t scared of anything unknown. Just animals. I guess for Japanese people, Japanese mountains really are special.

70.

When I think about turning around at the ocean at night and seeing a huge planet appear like this, it’s terrifying. The scariest is the ocean, then mountains, then the beach.

73. >>70 It doesn’t really matter, but if there was a planet at that distance there would no doubt be all sorts of other problems.

94. I brightened the image.

95 (OP). >>94 Ah, something’s there.

103. >>94 I grew up on an island, so to me it just looks like the lights from when I go fishing. The brightness and the height is exactly the same.

99. Rough seas are life threatening and so directly scary, but calm seas are something that steadily creeps you out. The sounds a boat makes in rough seas are scary too.
