A sudden, cool breeze brought the scent of water to my nostrils.
The weather suddenly turned overcast and black rain clouds appeared. It didn’t take long for it to start pouring.
Pushed on by the rain, I ran, almost rolling home.
It wasn’t far to my house, but the force of the rain was not to be trifled with, and by the time I reached my front door, I was soaked.
I ran a hand through my hair and flung off the droplets. I wanted to quickly get out of my wet clothes and take a shower, but as I opened the door, something felt wrong.
Something had slipped in past me.
It seemed a faint black shadow had slipped into my house.
It wasn’t like I was pushed aside, nor did I clearly see the shadow. It was like the air itself moved, like a wind blowing, and I definitely felt something gently brush past me.
Before I could get to the bottom of what it was, the sky lit up. Thunder roared immediately. It was nearby.
“Kyah?!”
The moment the lightning struck, I heard an exaggerated scream. In the house that was empty except for me.
So it was true, a guest I couldn’t see had snuck in.
It was somewhat cheeky of them, yet I could understand wanting to get out of this rain.
“Once the rain stops, you better leave,” I called out to the area where I heard the scream.
