During the summer of my second year of junior high, I went on a one night, two day camp. After our BBQ that night, we decided to gather around the campfire and sing some songs. We gathered firewood and then confirmed that no one was missing. Then I realised that I didn’t have my lyrics sheet with me, so I dashed off back to the tent to grab it.
The tent was on a small hill a short distance from the campfire, so I looked down at it. It seemed they’d started the fire without me, and it was raging. The circle of fire was beautiful. Sure can’t wait to get down there and join them!
A campfire usually isn’t a circle. Rather, a campfire is in the middle while people surround it. Meaning, it wasn’t the campfire that was burning, but rather… the students surrounding it.
