I saw a man embracing a telephone pole as I was on my way back from buying dinner at the convenience store. At first I thought he was just drunk, but something seemed off. This straight-laced businessman in a suit was glued to the pole. His eyes closed, forehead pressed tightly against it and a serious look on his face, they looked just like two lovers.

There was a shoe on top of his head. It wasn’t just a shoe, however. Attached to it was a leg, then hips, then body, then arms and a head. It was a woman in business clothes. Even though she was in a skirt, she climbed a man’s full height and was clinging tightly to the pole and showed no signs of moving any time soon.

Tracing my eyes even further up, there was yet another person. And above that. And even above that. They were all clinging tightly to the telephone pole, not budging an inch. There wasn’t a single free space on it. I couldn’t hear a single breath being taken, like they were in the middle of some kind of grave religious ritual.

I ran from there as fast as I could. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to resist the lure to embrace the telephone pole as well.
