Approaching noise

One night, A-san wasn’t able to sleep. Before he knew it, it was around 3 in the morning.

He heard a car approaching from outside. The car stopped in front of his house.

Batan. He heard the sound of a door being closed.

Patapatapata. He heard the sound of running approaching the entranceway.

Gachan. Tottototto… He heard the front door open, and something running up the stairs.

The footsteps stopped in front of the door to his room. For a moment, A-san thought it might be his parents, but at that time of the night? Finding it strange, sleep finally claimed him.

A few days later, the same thing happened again, and again A-san fell asleep, but the last thought he had before passing out was “Next time, I’ll open the door and find out who it is.”

A few days later he was unable to sleep once more. Around 4 in the morning, he heard the sounds of gachan, tottototto… and footsteps that stopped right in front of his room. A-san got up and opened the door, but nothing was there.

‘That’s strange,’ he thought. He went back to bed and lay down, but then he saw what looked like a large poster on the wall out of the corner of his eye.

A-san didn’t remember putting any poster up. He grabbed it and pulled it off. It fell on his face. But he soon realised it wasn’t a poster. What fell on A-san’s face was actually long hair. He moved closer to see and saw a woman with bright red eyes and pale skin looking right back at him.

A-san passed out.

The strange event passed. But for all who hear of A-san’s story, they will soon meet the same fate as him.
